I have a repair client call me last night. He has a Martin OM Kit he built in 99 that he finished with Tung Oil and now want have it refinished in nitro. If I seal the guitar with shellac before spraying will I have any issues or do I not even have to seal of the Tung oil. |

Michael I don't know a lot about Nitro, but I have used Shellac over Tung Oil, so maybe if you sealed with shellac and then sprayed Nitro. |

Michael, I just did a few searches on Google. It seems like it is quite common for people to put a coat of shellac over tung oil to help achieve a higher gloss finish. As long as there isn't a compatibility issue (and it doesn't look like there is) I would think that it would be just fine. At least, I can't think of a reason why it wouldn't work but then again, I'm a dufus. |
